From one bakery to a future of hope

Bidaya Foundation supports Sudanese refugees and asylum seekers in Egypt — through education, healthcare and food security.

Cairo, 2026

It started with a bakery.

بداية means beginning.

Following a visit to Cairo, the reality of the Sudanese refugee crisis became impossible to ignore. What began with purchasing a bakery to provide immediate support for refugee families soon revealed a deeper need for lasting change.

Bidaya Foundation was created to turn immediate relief into long-term hope — supporting Sudanese refugees and asylum seekers in Egypt through education, healthcare and food security. From school supplies, tutoring and vocational training, to medical care, maternal and child health support, food parcels, vouchers, community kitchens and essential household items, we stand alongside vulnerable families as they rebuild their lives.

Long tables covered with individually bagged loaves of bread, ready for the morning's distribution.

Because everyone deserves more than survival. They deserve dignity, opportunity, and a future.
